An original hymn about Christ's Humility
-Based on Philippians 2
1 Christ, in humble obedience
Suffered the Father’s wrath for me.
Obstinate was I in offense,
Yet, He left heaven’s courts for me.
Being in very nature the Lord;
Creator of the world;
Took on the creature’s frailty.
While I a slave to unbelief
He took a servant’s frame for me.
2 Considering equality
With the Father His rightful due
Was not His aim; nor His concern.
Rather, He fixed His eyes on you
O wandering heart, prone to ever leave
The Shepherd’s blessed peace,
Do you not see the ransom?
His life for yours, all His expense.
You receive pardon, He the wounds.
3 Fleets of angels at His command
Waited on bated breath to save
Our sweet Lord as He hung and bled
Yet, He did not advance the ranks.
Exercising His authority
Would have meant death for these
He came to save; to free.
Thank you, O, Christ! Your sacrifice
Guarantees my eternity.
Guarantees my eternity.
