As Heirs to Promises of Old

  1 As heirs to promises of old we see the Word fulfilled;

With joyful eyes the guarantee before us is revealed.

As Abraham's inheritance was not through law but faith

This promise now fulfilled in Christ, annihilates the grave.

Hallelujah it is won! The promises of God;

Completed by the blood of Christ the promised one.

2 Just as a final will at death can never be reversed

God sealed His will on Calvary when Christ became the curse.

Christ mediates with human blood and since He is true God;

The Father's blessing we receive; released from deadly law.

Hallelujah...

3 His promises are true and pure and given certainly;

Our God who calls things that are not as though reality.

Life given to a barren womb displayed His perfect power.

As heirs to the impossible, the work can not be ours.

Hallelujah...

4 What comfort faith is to our lives, what joy it is to know

Our hope is sealed with certainty, knowing his word is good.

His promise solemnly avowed until the coming Christ

Who shattered all our shackling; alive in faith we rise!
